Break time!

Time to throw off some of the work!
Summer is pretty much here! And, I'm taking a break from doing shows for a couple months. This may seem odd for someone ALSO trying to run a business.

Well, the Winged Beast is a creative project, and I need a break from show/market prep to recharge and focus on some other things. Like what? Why ART of course!

Not to mention, that at some point, the fall will come around, and I want to have some gooderific and novel things to show off. So, I'm gonna buckle down, alternate iced coffee and beer, and let the magic happen. Well not exactly, but there will be a mix of work and fun, that's for sure.

But don't worry. The Winged Beast isn't totally closed. In Ottawa, I will be putting in place a couple consignment opportunities - i.e. look for my stuff at Ottawa Jazz Festival, thanks to the Curious Collective. I also have my on Wolfe Island in August... more details etc. will come in their time.

And, as always, you can shop at my etsy store.

Cheers!
I cannot rust... I cannot rust.

Summer Shows! May - June Marathon!

Summer demands my show tent and lounging in the sun or shade.
The Winged Beast is hitting the great outdoors for the next couple months with a slew of dates in Ottawa!

Ravenswing DIY Fair
Sunday, May 27th, 11am to 4pm.
Minto Park (on Elgin).

Sandy Hill Spring Fair
Saturday, June 2nd, 9am to 3pm.
All Saints Church (corner of Blackburn and Laurier)

June 16th, I'll be down on Preston Street, as part of or adjacent to Italian Week of Ottawa (That's all I know at this point...). You'll know more when I do, of course.

You may also find me down at the Glebe Garage Sale on May 26th if a) the weather's good and b) my birthday is not too, too fun.

I'll be taking a break in July to take breaks and work on some other things (like taking breaks!)

August? Well, I'm hoping to go back to the Wolfe Island Music Festival. Tickets are apparently flying off the virtual shelves, so hurry up!

And as usual, you're welcome to peruse my online store. There are new prints, FYI.

Show! Urban Craft (Again!)

Winged Beast Outfitters is heading down to Urban Craft in Ottawa, yet again.
This Saturday, May 5, 2012 @10am-2pm
The GCTC, Holland & Wellington Free Admission!

Ottawa is lucky because I'll be showcasing some new shirts and skirts, which are very much way better than my grainy smartphone pic suggest...

All these shows in a row at Urban Craft have been forcing me to keep rolling new stuff out. To help with showing it off, I'll also be showcasing a new display rack for my kids clothes. I am making it out of materials scavenged from the construction site next store! More to come on that.

And finally, I am practicing my hand at doing paper prints. I'm not deft, ye... but watch out for hangable/frameable prints this fall!

Art = Classy

Where have I been? Doing stuff!

Oh my neglected blog! I've been busy since Christmas. But, I haven't been posting here. Ooops... to make amends, I have some highlights for those who follow the blog.

I've been doing Urban Craft the last few months. It's Ottawa's only monthly Maker/Craftster market. It's been pretty great. The next one is May 5.

I've made new Beware the Squid Menace shirts and added kid's sizes to the line up.

I'm working on my summer show schedule. Life at the public library may keep me in the Ottawa region, but worldwide people who need a fix can still go to my Etsy store.

I also went to Paris (for the first time ever!). It was spectacular and I took about 776 photos (mostly of graffiti and of cats). Some of this massive wad of pics are for a project I'm hoping to have done in June. More on that will be announce later.

In other news, I have my first ever interview next Friday. The good people at Apt. 613 are going to shine their light on me. This, I believe to be awesome.

And, as usual I'm always working on images and ideas and keeping things tight at the ol'OPL.

Happy Holidays!

Thanks, Ottawa! You've made this a pretty bangin' Fall/Winter season!
The Winged Beast will rest soon... there is still time to get your last minute holiday orders in! But you will have to be fast.

Looking forward to 2012!

Cheers,

Winged Beast Outfitters Returns to Toronto Oct. 23

Next weekend is the beginning of the fall season for Winged Beast Outfitters. And, I'm kicking it off with a little trip out of town. I'm heading to Canzine 2011 in Toronto!
Details:
Sunday, October 23
Toronto – 918 Bathurst Centre
918 Bathurst St. @ 1 – 7 pm
There's a $5 cover, but it's worth it.

Everyone who reads this and lives in Toronto should come. And, tell a friend to come, too.

Here's why: it's been a few years since I've made a stab at the Big Smoke, but I think the timing is right, or rather I have the time (which ever). To sweeten the deal, I'll be rolling out new stuff for the sellin'.

There's this wicked toque, entitled simply "My Pants!".

Click on this pic to find out why it's so awesome.
There will be four new post cards. Some are new, and a couple are variations on old themes. Either way, I'm pretty happy with them. Look out for a limited run of Squid Menace posters.

And last but not least, there will be kitten army t-shirts. Finally, I got off my duff and made these. I had to after I got a lot of demand for them at the Wolf Island Music Festival.
I'm looking forward to this! Hope you are now, too.

Returning to Wolfe Island!

Winged Beast Outfitters is heading to the Wolfe Island Music Festival August 5-6. It's a great little festival on an island near Kingston. I was a vendor there last year, and it was an amazing blast. The line-up is pretty awesome looking. Personally, I'm excited about the Wooden Sky and Jenn Grant.

What will I have that's new? Well, there will be new cardigans and some new t-shirt prints, as well as more up-cycled retro pillowcases and tea-towels.

New up-cycled retro pillowcases!
Also, a couple new one inch pins... and, of course the return of the classics!

So, if you're in or near Kingston-town and looking for a great weekend of music: a) come to this festival and b) drop by my tent!
